Most vexing to be two minutes too late to click the departure button. Just finished a go at your suggested route on seed three, and ended on 39 days - I fumbled away a day on the Acapulco-New Orleans leg as I had to empty two suitcases first. They clearly do, and in pursuing them along the way (Paris, Istanbul, Kabul, Karimskaya) I ended up 'suave' by the time I hit Manila, and had the waterboiling option. In my speed runs, I foolishly went through the dialogues as fast as possible, since there is no visible gauge of 'valeting skill' in-game, I didn't think those characteristics mattered beyond ambience. It's very handy, and I do it almost every time I'm in that city.Thank you so much, god Sir, for that table. I'll give you a hint: you can 'skill up' your Passepartout to 'dependable' as early as Paris. Originally posted by OldChapMax:About 'skill up' - you might want to check out this thread: I also probably added a lot of needless details - probably the main thing to get the trait is to speak up at least 2 times during the artificer speech and not sure if talking to baloonists matters - but that needs further testing. Your actions in the countries' tent don't seem to matter. Visit the World expo in the automaton tent approach the Artificer explaining to kids, 'But can automatons replace humans', 'But can they feel.', 'In which countries.', applaud, say the speech was very stirring in the airship hangar approach the baloonists, say it's robbery, say that you're going around the world. It's very handy, and I do it almost every time I'm in that city. I hope they'll help you to solve the mystery that is this game's attributes mechanic :P I don't know if this has any bearing on enabling the boiling option, but at least in all those 4 journeys where I had her say that to me, I always got the boiling water option later.Ībout 'skill up' - you might want to check out this thread: UPD: Oh, BTW, if you're friendly to the Japanese captain on the Yokohama-Manila route she can say "Do not drink the water!" to you when saying goodbye. That makes sense too - poor valet just wouldn't have enough skill to think of boiling water. I think it needs to be higher than average (Strong, Remarkable or Unsurpassed) to enable the boiled water option. Yes, I agree, it must have something with Passepartout's "Valeting/Skill" attribute. Perhaps it would be possible to stop in Omsk and pick up the Western Star to sell it in Korea.īut that means losing a whole day in Omsk, and possibly missing the opportunity to speed up the train.Ībout boiling water. Yeah, I agree, for the Vienna-Warsaw-Moscow route you need the right seed, with the wine to Vienna, and even then I'm not sure if you'd have the right amount of money, cuz I can't think of any other expensive trade goods you can encounter and sell on that route :/ I ended up arriving on day 38, but I assure you, if not for that silly detour I'd be in London by day 35-36. Funny, I even was able to get 1-2 days ahead of my 36 days 'ghost' run, but I did a stupid thing and tried to go not thorugh Acapulco, but through Panama-Haiti-Ponta by Zannimoto, but I run out of money, and had to shamefully retreat to Acapulco and go by the tried route. However, I was able to replicate (well, not to the end) that route on seed 5 today. Encountering either calamity (waiting for bank funds or Fogg's recovery) lands me at 41 days on that route. I've yet to figure out what exactly gives Passpartout the boil water option - I assume he has to 'skill up' his valeting through events - I always have the option when I go 'slow', but never during speed runs. If those two aren't met, you'll either be stranded in Manila due to lack of cash, or stranded in Honolulu/Acapulco for lack of Foggish health. However, the only way to actually go that route is when two conditions are met you need a story seed that litters expensive trade goods between those cities (say, have the wine in Paris be worth a ton in Vienna, for instance), and Passpartout needs to know how to boil water in Manila. The 80 Days wiki has it listed as the fastest possible (31 days in total). Vienna-Warsaw-Moscow-Karimskaya w/ the speed boost should be faster by several days. I'll test more and see if I can beat that by going through Vienna-Warsaw-Moscow-Karimskaya instead.Do you remember which story seed you did that run on?
